sandwiches for my father-in-law!

dave loves sandwiches.  he loves making sandwiches; he loves eating sandwiches; & he loves making fun of me for not appreciating his love of sandwiches.  {note:  i am learning to enjoy sandwiches more & more.}

our sandwich lab in class this week was right up his alley.  we made SIX kinds of sandwiches.  that is a lot of sandwiches.  there were all different kinds with all different ingredients & all different preparations.

the one that blew my mind: the deep-fat fried monte cristo.  have you ever heard of this??  i had not.  who would think to deep-fat fry a sandwich??  i was prepared for it to be absolutely disgusting.  & i am very very sad to report...it was actually really good.  haha.  welcome to the south, my friends.

{a traditional club}

{a simple california wrap}

{oh yes, this is the monte cristo.
turkey & ham & swiss.
deep-fat fried.
with powdered sugar on top.
sounds insanely awful, right?
wrong.}

{the good ole reuben}

{a shrimp & oyster po boy!}

{a cuban.
blakey's new favorite sandwich.
this was the last one of the night,
& it might be fair to say we didn't put a ton of effort into it.}

{my leftovers from class.
needless to say, i will not be cooking at home this week.
you are welcome, blakey.}

love love,
kjp.
