happy anniversary date day!

our 6-month anniversary, or our "sextus mensiversary"was last week & we celebrate in style this weekend!

{thank you, sister, for that riveting piece of knowledge about the actual name.}

our anniversary date day began at urban standard for a bit of caffeine.  in case you did not know, i have a little addiction to caffeine.  it is currently in the form of a small vanilla 1% latte.  it might be getting out of hand, but i've decided that is ok.  blakey had a delicious mocha & he loved it too!

next stop was brunch at another broken egg.  if you ever need a ridiculously large & fabulous breakfast, this is the place to go.  blakey had the benedict oscar & i had potato sensations!  {still a little weirded out by eggs & hollandaise after our egg lab.}  ooh, we also sipped on a pepper-infused-vodka bloody mary & a pineapple-infused vodka mimosa.  good morning!

after breakfast we took a stop on the alabama wine trail!  with the leaves finally beginning to change in alabama, we had a beautiful drive out to the country.  when we arrived at the winery, we had a quick tour of the operations & then a wine tasting.  let me tell you, these were truly the worst wines blakey & i have ever tasted in our lives.  but we had a fun time doing it & laughing at the people talking about how great they were.  blakey & i are by absolutely no means wine connoisseurs or wine snobs.  but wow, these were bad.
{i'm not going to tell you which winery we went to, as i am not here to be bad for anyone's business.  but if you are heading out on the wine trail, talk to me first!}

now that we experienced a little bit of culture for the day, time for football!  we stopped at the cutest little restaurant & bar called mudtown.  blakey had heard about their wings after the kickin' chicken festival {which we will definitely be attending next year!}, so we decided to stop by.  the wings were, in fact, quite delicious.  AND the bar tender is from oklahoma city!  pc north grad.  go panthers.  he was super fun.  we had a great time talking ou football, downtown okc, the wind sweeping down the plain...  & we made friends with a first year surgery resident {post call.  couple beers in.  no sleep.  impressive.} at UAB.  definitely stop by mudtown for your next football watching afternoon!

after an afternoon of SEC football, it was oklahoma football time!  although our team looked like a bunch of bad highschool players, we had a fantastic time with our a&m friends... amy & ogden, the alpha & omega, amen, ogy... we aren't sure of their official couple nickname yet.  a little friendly banter & a few "in your fRace!"s concluded the evening.  totally fair - a&m deserved that victory.  & they don't get to celebrate against the sooners too often :)

six months down & many many many to go.  love my husband.  loved our anniversary.

love love,
kjp.
