our family & friends "blew wishes" to us with pretty little pinwheels twirling in the oklahoma wind to send us into our new married life.

1. cut pretty paper into square of desired size.
2. cut a diagonal line from each corner towards the center, about 3/4 of the way.
3. make a pinhole in the top 1 inch of a small dowel.
4. bring every other point to the center so points overlap.
hold in place with a pushpin.
5. the theory is you can now stick the pushpin through the dowel
& a beautiful pinwheel is made!
my 4 lovely helpers might say it isn't that easy.
tricks: thread a small bead or two or three on the pin behind the wheel
& hot glue the pin into the wheel.
6. after a little prayer & a lot of help from your friends,
you have made pretty little pinwheels!
{our beautiful house party girls}
so many thanks to blake, julie, ben, & rAshley for your assistance & company while making 300 pinwheels! you are the best.
love love,
kjp.
My feelings are a little hurt that this post is lacking a picture of me hammering a tiny hole in the rods that the pinwheels were pinned on.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous effect in the end.
I think I spilled more beads on the floor than I actually got on the pinwheels! Oops! They turned out beautifully though... in fact mine is still sitting in my living room!
