one of the beauties of birmingham is that we have a pretty great grocery store. publix is a bit nicer than target, much better selection than oklahoma grocery stores, but not as pricey as whole foods. it is a great go to.
they even have a sushi chef on staff all the time while they are open! the sushi is freshly made each day & quite good. there is a decent selection with white or brown rice, spicy or non-spicy, sauce or no sauce... & at $6 - $8 per roll, it is hard to beat.
in addition to our spicy tuna & assortment of other non-cream cheese rolls, we grabbed some dumplings, or what blakey calls gyoza. {he thinks he is so knowledgeable since he spent a month in japan. ok, maybe he is.} on recommendation from ogden, we sauteed the gyoza in a little oil & soy sauce until crisp & hot. fantastic $4 appetizer!
love quick, easy, delicious, & cheap dinners. love good grocery stores.
love love,
kjp.
I get gyoza from the korean market all the time! Def a staple in my house. Sautee in sesame oil for a nutty treat!
