a happy birth/memorial/of fun day!

after the fabulous birthday party on saturday, we got to celebrate even more on sunday! 

amy's birthday was sunday, so matt & elyse graciously hosted an entire day of fun in their backyard.  we played games {yes, the theme continues}, grilled hamburgers & ate tons of other food, & had a fantastic day in the sun with our birmy friends.  great party, great day.

first up on the games schedule was a washers tournament!  matt's version of washers is a little different than ours.  3 points for the furthest hole, 2 for the middle, 1 for the closest, & 0 for landing on the board.  elyse is a complete whiz at this game.  it is pretty impressive.

because we were all about being 'merican on this holiday, we brought the sports.  blake & i played catch - yes, we did bring our own gloves & ball.  & then the only thing more american than baseball?  football, of course.  so the boys threw around the football for awhile.  tanky loves footballs.  so the football tossing was also a fun game of keep away from tanky. 

 

& when tossing the football was no longer enough, the boys hopped over to the neighbor's huge yard & played a big more aggressive version.  well done, fellas.  

our friends are pretty awesome.  so glad we have been blessed with all of them!

no birthday party would be complete without a birthday cake & song!  amy's family always makes her great grandmother's chocolate cake for birthdays, so we got to try this fantastic family tradition!  it was seriously good.

happy birthday, amy!  & a huge thank you to all of our troops, past & present.  & a happy birthday to my sister too on monday.
