fun with chocolate!

i'm not sure "fun" is the right word...but i am quite happy it is over!  & i do feel a little bit accomplished.  :)

we've been working with chocolate the last two weeks in school.  there is a process called tempering that one must do to get the set, snap, & shine you want in chocolate.  more than you wanted to know already?

everything in these pictures is made of chocolate.  seriously, everything.  {except the cardboard or parchment paper they are sitting on.}

first up, truffles & a chocolate bowl!

 {white chocolate + fruity pebbles bowl}

my friend, jess, made me a lemon birthday cake!!!  it was fabulous.  & i know my lemon cakes.

next up, the small chocolate figurine.  i, shockingly, went with a bird!
 {white chocolate with gold cocoa powder}

 {the entire class's chocolate figurines!
my favorite is the owl on the left.  so cute!}

& then the chocolate showpiece.  as i mentioned {here}, the theme is springtime in paris.  so obviously i went with the fleur de lis.

the fleur de lis is dark chocolate couveture.  the flowers are white chocolate.  the base is rock chocolate.  & my favorite is the white chocolate + green cocoa butter piped tubes.  a task.  but i'm a little proud.

happy friday, friends!  we are starting sugar work tonight.  so definitely a happy friday for me.  3 weeks, 1 day.

love love,
kjp.
