wedding wednesday # 29: ceremony music.

did i ever mention that i almost forgot to hire musicians for our wedding ceremony?

oops.

one morning it just dawned on me i hadn't done it yet.  ummm...panic.  to my friends & the internet i went.

i knew i didn't want a 5-piece string orchestra.  not that anything is wrong with that, it just isn't blakey & me.  after all, our bridesmaids wore anthropologie dresses & our groomsmen wore boat shoes.

the only musical sound i love almost as much as a human voice is the guitar.  so, i decided, let's hire a guitarist.

problem: i couldn't think of anyone we know who plays guitar in weddings.  so i called {yeah right, i don't call.  i emailed.} a handful of music schools in norman, asking for recommendations.  one guy responded quickly, had experience, & seemed pleasant, so i hired him!

aren't snap decisions fun?  especially when they work out.

thomas anderson did a fabulous job.  it was the perfect mix of classic wedding songs with a modern, pretty, & simple twist.  well done, sir.

so if you're thinking of doing something completely outside of tradition for your wedding.... go for it :)

love love,
kjp.
