friday evening at school, we made shrimp bisque! {we also made new england clam chowder, potato & leek soup, & cream of mushroom. but the shrimp bisque was my pride & joy.} it was fantastic!
have you ever made shrimp bisque? a bit of a strange recipe but the result was well worth it. note: step 1: saute shrimp shells & tails in butter. yes, that's right. the tails. you do eventually strain them out but they make the stock.
piece of wisdom from school: the difference between stock & broth? stock is made from meat bones {or just veggies in the case of vegetable stock} while broth is made from the actual meat.
{shrimp bisque!}
saturday morning, my friends from JCRMA {read: wives' club} & i ran in the race for the cure! there were thousands of people in downtown birmy, sporting their pink pink pink, & supporting the wonderful cause. i ran to celebrate the life of my mother-in-law :) & we actually ran the whole thing!
{amy & me, clearly before the running}
while i was running, blakey & tanky were napping...
{post call is hard work}
sunday morning after church, we decided to stop by the original pancake house for a delicious breakfast. we can not get over how good these pancakes are. i'm not even a huge fan of pancakes. i wonder what they put in them...
sunday afternoon, i had the opportunity to volunteer at birmingham's break'n bread festival! chef osborne of culinard is a huge player in the "birmingham originals", so it was a neat opportunity to get to know him, meet people from fabulous birmy restaurants, try some yummy food, & hang out with my classmates. fun afternoon.
& happy happy wedding weekend to our friends, ryan & ashley! so sad we couldn't be a part of the big day, but so so happy for you two!
love love,
kjp.
I am so honored you ran for me! Enjoying my new daughter-in-laws is one of the many reasons I'm so glad cancer didn't get me!! Sounds like a fun, busy weekend! Love you!
