the 6th annual magic city brewfest was this weekend at sloss furnaces! brewfest is an awesome craft beer festival with breweries from all around the country. check out the crazy long list of beers {here}. eight alabama breweries were present, including a few new ones we had yet to hear about.
since sloss is only a mile & a half from our loft, blakey & i enjoyed a nice stroll to the fest!

of course, our friends joined in the fun at brewfest! in fact, three of ogden's college buddies flew out to birmy to party. by the way, how fabulous at color coordinating are they...

one of the new alabama breweries we hadn't heard of yet is beer engineers. they had a rye beer, which i had never heard of before. it was quite sweet, which was very surprising. they also have a peanut butter porter! they were out by the time we made it to their tent, but i definitely look forward to trying it in the future.
& our favorite birmy brewery, avondale brewing company, unveiled their new strawberry kolsch! it was quite good. it was no spring street saison, but i'm not sure anything will ever beat that. y'all, this brewery is good. look forward to them getting very big very soon.
a few of our other favorite craft brews that i would absolutely recommend trying were denver's great divide colette, which is a fantastic farmhouse ale. tallgrass brewing company from manhattan, kansas had an awesome stout called buffalo sweat. cahaba brewing company is another new birmingham area brewery we hadn't heard of yet. they have a kiwi kosch that i look forward to trying soon, as they were out at the fest.
well done, alabama. well done.
& after the fabulous fun in the sun, we headed over to moe's for wings & fantastic thunder win. thunder up!
