happy 1st anniversary, byrds!

happy 1st anniversary to us!  this calls for a celebration.

my husband {a year later, still so fun to say} & i spent the afternoon at the ozan winery with gorgeous views & delicious wines!

 {the wine was actually very good.

the secret: they only grow one grape at this winery.

then they pick out great grapes from places 

with better grape-growing climates than alabama.

then we headed to a tiny town for a little southern hospitality.  montevallo, alabama is home of an adorable pink house bed & breakfast that looks like it came right out of savannah.  the inside of the house had a great old character.  & the owner of the mckibbon house was the sweetest lady.

after hanging out on the porch, we had a picnic in the garden.  wine, cheeses, bread, hummus, & salami.  a fantastic lunch.

there was a music festival going on in "downtown" montevallo {ie main street.  the only street.}.  we had a drink on the patio at the coffee shop while chatting with one of the musicians.  then we had dinner at the tavern.  blakey had a really good mushroom & swiss burger with brown gravy.  {now, in oklahoma, we eat white gravy.  so i feel like i'm cheating on my roots when i say: this burger was so good.  but don't tell anyone in oklahoma.}

it was a fabulous first year of marriage.  & we look forward to so many more fabulous years to come.
