79 pie shells later.

last night, we had a dinner at urban featuring rohan anderson, chef & author of the cookbook whole larder love.  he's super into eating off of the land, so the dinner showcased foods from local farms & meat distributors & even a wild gatherer.

a chef came in to plan the menu & create the meal with trevor, my manager.  & as such, i had the opportunity to help with the dessert!  little banana cream pies in individual pie shells with fresh bananas & brûléed meringue on top.  my job was the pie shells.  seventy individual pie shells.

"this will be so much fun!" i thought.  well, with help forming the shells & help cleaning up & only a few broken by our carelessness, six hours later we were finished with only nine to spare.  yes, six hours.  never in my wildest dreams did i think it would take six hours.  but they were pretty darn cute & rustic & quite tasty.  {thanks, grandma, for your fabulous pie dough recipe!  i will use it for all things pie forever & ever.}

after i left, the fellas went to work putting the banana cream pies together.  they look so darn adorable, don't you think?!

well done, fellas.  well done.

happy friday to you!

love love,
kjp.
