magic city brewfest 2013!!

one of our favorite events in birmy was this weekend - magic city brewfest!!  a day full of friends, fun, sun, & lots of tasty brews to try!  {check out last year's post here}

 there were tons of breweries to sample again this year with a whopping 11 alabama breweries.  of course our favorite avondale was present, along with a few others we had tried before.  there were also quite a few new bama breweries that we hadn't heard of or previously tried that were delicious!

we were stoked to learn of one that will be opening in birmy this fall, trim tab brewing company.  they had a neat idea to only have one brew available at a time, switching every thirty minutes.  the first was  a tasty wheat beer.  we headed back in time to try their cucumber saison & it was absolutely delicious.  super fresh & light & perfect for summer.  saisons are so good.  but cucumber just put it over the top.

of course the mcgowans joined in the fun.  ogden pretty much thinks brewfest is a birmy holiday.  his sister, da, & her boyfriend, matt, came from texas to join us for the event too.  we had an awesome time.

avondale had a few new brews to try too, including a sprink kriek saison, which was cherry-flavored & quite good.  it was not as amazing as the spring street saison, but nothing ever will, i do believe.

we ran into more wonderful birmy friends & truly had a fabulous afternoon.  it's hard to believe we are beginning our last year of fun in birmy with the mcgs.  {& possibly others too, depending on where we head next year...}  lots & lots & lots of fun in the year to come.
