let the {fantasy football} games begin!

our annual fantasy football draft was this weekend!  our high school friends started this league many years ago while we were in college & had all of the time in the world to research football & kick butt all week long.  it has been a fantastic way for all of us to "get together" from all across the country & world, hang out each week, & share in a little bit of competition.

i say "a little bit of competition" not due to our lack of effort or seriousness or constant smack talk, but because my husband has kicked all of our butts three years in a row.  not this year, my love.  not this year!  the fuchsia monkeys are coming to play.

how do you make football season more amazing?  add thursday night, a few friday nights, all day sunday, & monday night to the mix.  i love the fall.

thankful thursday - always something to be thankful for.

the three days before christmas, i had the respiratory flu.  it.was.miserable.  that's really the only word that gets close to how i felt.  but you know... most of the country seems to have the flu right now.

throughout those flu days, i was quite thankful.  it was the first time i was sick all year.  & the first time to feel that bad in probably ten years.  & after three straight months of traveling, it was truly the only three days i had to be sick.

{please don't get me wrong.  i am not trying to sound like superwoman here.  there was plenty of crying.  & whining.  especially when blake was on 24 hour call & i took nyquil for the first time in 10 years & promptly remembered why i did not take nyquil.  someone, please, remind me in 10 years when i get this sick again that i do NOT take nyquil.  it's for good reason.}

oh!  i did manage to make our favorite millionaire mac & cheese on christmas eve!  it is ridiculously delicious.  under no circumstances should this be made as a side dish.  even on thanksgiving, that is ridiculous.  this is a main course mac & cheese.  & it is so good.

just so you don't think i'm skipping out on thankful thursday for things in 2013 - today {& by that, i mean yesterday}, i am thankful for impromptu naps.  with tanky & fuchsia monkey by my side, naps are perfection.  

i hope you can think of something today for which you are thankful.
